Last month Baltimore, MD hardcore band JIVEBOMB announced their debut album ETHEREAL with crushing lead single “SURVIVAL AIN’T TAUGHT.” Now the band follow it with "ESTRELA,” a minute and fifteen seconds long track that delivers fast, menacing, and with just the right amount of disgust. The song’s sonic ricochet moves through heaven-like lyrics that allude back to the album’s title. The video for the track pulsates through the band’s furious live show capturing capturing JIVEBOMB’s on-stage energy and their unhinged crowd response. On writing "ESTRELA,” vocalist Kat shares:
“This song has been written (lyrically) for a while and I was on a heavy Billie Holiday kick at the time. She has a devastating song where she says, ‘angels have no thoughts of ever returning you - would they be angry if I thought of joining you?’ so there’s an ode to that in ‘ESTRELA.’ Letting a past self die in order to grow, rather than being complacent in your shit life.”
JIVEBOMB’S brazen and gut-wrenching style takes on a more extreme form on the band’s upcoming debut album, ETHEREAL, out March 28th, 2025 on Flatspot Records. Entering the studio in summer 2024 with Ben Greenberg (Uniform) at Circular Ruin in Brooklyn, NY, JIVEBOMB knew they wanted to keep their raw, blitzed out energy while diving into heavier territory. Spanning ten tracks, ETHEREAL clocks in at thirteen minutes of destructive chaos pulling from hardcore, grindcore, and the extremities of music. It follows the band’s 2021 demo and widely praised Primitive Desires EP (2022).
